Pocket Crates is a personal vinyl collection app. This policy explains what information
we collect, how we use it, and what we do not do with it.
Information We Collect
Account information — When you create an account, we store your
email address and a hashed (bcrypt) password on our servers. We never store your
password in plain text.
Collection data — Records you add, crates you create, notes, genre
tags, and preferences are stored on our servers so your collection is available
across devices and sessions.
Custom cover images — If you upload a front or back cover photo for
a record, that image is stored on our servers and associated with your account.
Device Permissions
Camera — Used only for barcode scanning (to look up a record by
UPC/EAN) and for capturing a custom cover photo. The camera is never accessed in the
background.
Photo library — Used only when you choose to upload a cover image
from your photo library. We do not access photos for any other purpose.
Third-Party Services
Pocket Crates uses the Discogs API to retrieve release metadata
(artist, title, label, tracklist, cover art) when you search for or scan a record.
Searches are made from our server — your IP address and account identifier are not
forwarded to Discogs. Discogs has its own
privacy policy.
What We Do Not Do
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing.
We do not serve advertisements.
We do not track your activity across other apps or websites.
We do not use your collection data for any purpose other than providing the app's features to you.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account
and all associated data at any time from the Settings screen in the app. After deletion,
your data is removed from our production systems.
Security
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt before storage. Data is transmitted over HTTPS.
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no system is completely
secure.
Children
Pocket Crates is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect
personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above.
Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
